Participant terms

30th June 2024

About these terms

These legal terms are between you and Emble (Emble/we/us), and by using the Emble platform, you agree to them.

How we'll contact you

There's a few ways we'll look to contact you. These include, but are not limited to:

  • Via your email address

You can opt out of receiving notifications and marketing updates, but we'll need to send you crucial business updates, such as major changes to these terms and conditions, for example.

Using Emble as a participant

When you sign up to Emble as a participant, you'll be able to take part in research.

This research is unmoderated, which means you'll do it by yourself.

When you sign up, you have the option to choose whether or not you'd like to be contacted for future research. This means other companies will be able to invite you to their research too. You can change this at any time by either signing back in to the research and selecting 'No' to being contacted again, or by contacting us.

In the future, we plan to allow participants to be able to access their dashboard, where they can choose to take part in research.

Completing research

When you complete research, you must answer honestly, and take the research seriously. If you have agreed to be paid a fee for taking part in the research beforehand, if the researcher doesn't think your answer is acceptable, they can choose not to pay you.

To take part in research, you must have a working camera and microphone. You will also need to share your screen. As a result, we recommend you complete research on a desktop computer or laptop. As above, if the quality of your response isn't satisfactory, the researcher can choose not to pay you.

Do not provide any personal or private information while taking part in research. If you do, we can not take any liability for problems that may arise off the back of this.

You can read more about this in our privacy policy.

When completing research, you must provide your correct name and email address. You must not allow anyone else to do research for you, unless previously agreed with the researcher.

Finally, you can only respond once to any given piece of research. If you respond more than once, then you will not be due more than 1 payment.

About your responses

When completing a response, you agree that you do not own the rights to the video you submit.

This video is processed in several ways after submission:

  1. It gets edited and automatically adjusted for review by the researcher
  2. It gets transcribed
  3. The video gets analysed by AI to pull out key insights and information about your response

By submitting your response, you agree to this processing occurring.

Payment

Any payment you agree for your response with the researcher is not any responsibility of Emble. If the researcher does not pay, Emble is not liable to pay you.

We will do whatever we can to facilitate payment where appropriate though.

In the future, we plan on allowing payouts to be done via Emble. At that time, these terms will change.

Fair and reasonable usage

When using Emble, you must use it fairly and reasonably. In plain language, this means that you can use the features provided by Emble and you will be fine.

However, you must not attempt any of the following:

  • Web scraping of the Emble app
  • Distributed Denial-of-Service (DDoS)
  • Any other malicious script or service that puts the Emble service, or application, at risk

Your Emble account

You must not share your Emble account sign in credentials.

As above, if we discover that you are sharing your account details, we reserve the right to suspend your account at any time.

If you want to delete your Emble account and it's data, send us a message and we'd be happy to help.

Sharing of your account data

As stated in our privacy policy, we use numerous third party providers for different business requirements. For example, authentication, payment processing, and artificial intelligence features.

When we use these third party providers, your data may be stored on their servers. We do not take any responsibility for problems such as loss of data, or compromised data, as a result of problems that happen via their platform. However, we always strive to only use reputable third party services and care deeply about the privacy and security of your data.

However, we won't ever share your data with a third party without your explicit permission, unless it's for these aforementioned business requirements.

As stated above, when signing up for Emble as a participant, if you agree to be contacted about future research, you allow us to share your contact details with other researchers using Emble.

About these terms

You'll be able to view these terms at any time via the Emble website, on this page.

For significant changes, we'll email you ahead of applying any changes.

If you ever need to see a previous version of these terms, send us a message and we'll be able to send you them.
