Privacy policy

Who are we?

We're Emble ("our", "we", "us").

On this page, we'll explain how we use your data on Emble, and what data we store about you.

Your rights

You have a right to:

  • Access the personal data we hold about you, or to get a copy of it;
  • Ask for a copy of your personal data in a portable (machine-readable) format or make us send it to someone else;
  • Ask us correct inaccurate data;
  • Ask us to delete your data, though for legal reasons we might not always be able to do it;

To do any of these things, please send us a message and we'll aim to complete this for you as soon as possible.

Where we store or send your data

We mainly store our user's data in the UK. However, it's possible that through some of our third party service providers, such as Clerk, store your data in a data centre outside of the UK. We strive to only use the best third party service providers, where it is significant to Emble as a business.

At this point, it's worth noting that although we take your security extremely seriously, no method of transmission over the internet or method of electronic storage is 100% secure. While we strive to use commercially acceptable means to protect your data, we cannot guarantee its absolute security.

What data we store

Researchers

At the moment, we only store the most essential data to run Emble as a business. The data we store about researchers includes, but is not limited to:

  • Your name
  • Your email
  • Your company name
  • Your role within your company

Participants

The data we store about participants includes, but is not limited to:

  • Your name
  • Your email
  • Whether you'd like to be considered for future research
  • Your video responses

When you submit a video response, it gets stored and your video is then used to generate a transcript and business insights based upon your feedback. These videos are stored indefinitely. If you'd like the research you've submitted to be deleted, please contact the company who you did the research for, and they can let us know.

In the video responses themselves, please try not to give private personal information away. If a company asks you, for example, for your credit card details - please do not provide them, and report the company to us immediately.

Unfortunately if you do provide private information, we cannot take responsibility for that.

There are some legitimate use cases for private information to be asked for, such as what city you live in. This type of information can be really useful to researchers, so where possible, please try to weigh up the situation and answer accordingly before completing a video response.

Our approach to AI

Artificial intelligence (AI) powers a lot of what we do at Emble. At the time of writing, we use two major third party providers of large language models (LLMs). These are:

  • OpenAI
  • Anthropic

As a result, data you provide will get passed in to their models.

In the future, we plan to host our own LLMs, but at the present moment we're going to continue using OpenAI and Anthropic.

When we get to the point of using our own LLMs, we'll require training data generated by our users to make it as efficient and effective as possible. Ahead of that happening, we'll let our users know so you can opt out if you'd rather not be involved in this.

How we'll make changes to this policy

We'll always publish the latest version of this policy on our website. For significant changes, we'll send you an email outlining what it is we've changed.
